(band biography)

"Otherness is an electronic modern rock band that has harnessed the energetic vibe of its early modern rock heroes and redirected it with new technology and a dark, emotive content..."

Bubbling up in Nashville, Tennessee amidst a sea of twang and drawl, OTHERNESS has enjoyed several years of success as both recording artists and a live band. Otherness has shared the stage with several great bands and artists including Bella Morte, The Cruxshadows, A Flock of Seagulls, Berlin, The Cure's Laurence Tolhurst, Venus Hum & many other stellar bands and DJ's.

The bands first release VIEW was a five track ep pre cursor to the first full length album, 1998's SOMEWHERE BETWEEN SOMETHING & NOTHING. The album was available internationally on the web through Salt Lake City-based distributor A Different Drum (the company temporarily sold out of stock after publishing a review of the album on there web site). SBS&N took flight on the local alternative rock scene and radio with singles The Falling Rain, Where Angels Fear To Tread, and Dying To Be Beautiful. SBS&N benefited from good rotation on Vanderbilt University's WRVU, as well as several Atlanta, Georgia independent and college radio stations, and enjoyed much success as a staple album in many local dance clubs and music venues. The single Dying To Be Beautiful was featured as garageband.com's Alternative Song of the Day on July 21, 2000.

2001 saw the release Mittlewerks, a EP of b-sides, outtakes, and remixes to satiate fans waiting for the release of Apology For The Truth, the bands second full length release.

"Radiating a melancholy rush of original music, Apology For The Truth's bittersweet melodies hit you in that familiar pop nerve..."

"Cradled by a whirl of synthesizer pulses, inventive guitar textures and harmonious acoustic/electronic drumming... encapsulating a sound suggesting the post rock era..."

Otherness enjoyed a successful 2000/2001 in support of Apology For The Truth. The Album contained many single's including the club smash Outside, a song that went on to become one of Otherness' most played songs as well as their most remixed song, boasting remixes from Venus Hum, Edge To Life, and many others. As with their first album, Apology For The Truth captured the bands fans with new, fresh, music, yet a sound that definitely said Otherness.

2003 will see the release of the bands third full length album TERRA TRANSMISSION. Floating between delicate synth landscapes, edgier guitar driven-pop, and the lush noise of distortion, TERRA TRANSMISSION showcases the evolving sound of Otherness.
